PATRICIA A. JACKSON

After many years of doing “other things,” including the practice of law, I now focus my time and energies on more artistic – as well as enjoyable – endeavors, the results of which can be viewed on this site.

I became rather taken with soft pastels after taking a number of evening classes with Shelley Haven at Cooper Union in New York City and this is currently my primary and favorite media.  Vibrant colors as well as subtle tones can be readily achieved with soft pastels.  Handmade and other interesting papers, including etchings and other prints, can enhance the textures and composition. Pastels can also be combined with other media, particularly water colors and gouache.  Favorite subjects for my pastels include landscapes, flowers and fruit (particularly pears) – on both large and small scales.

I have also worked with other media, such as traditional tempera and encaustic paints, to produce small works and with Precious Metal Clay® (PMC) to produce fine silver jewelry pieces.  More recently, I have returned to printmaking after nearly 30 years and have begun experimenting with glass.
